The courses : The application follows the theory
… The progress is according to the weather situation : if there is
some stormy weather a first day, you learn to reef, and so on ...
We usually start at 8.30, after breakfast, lunch at noon, anchored or sailing
according … We usually stop around 5 pm for night shelter, apéro,
supper, early to bed … Descriptive certificate of all the learnt operations,
the guarantor for your capacity to manoeuvre a sailboat for the obtaining
insurances, … Responsibilities are shared : everybody puts the shoulder
to the wheel. I usually make the first breakfast, that shows you how works
the equipment. Well equipped boat: refrigerator, alcohol stove, oven, BBQ
(propane), dishes, two toilets, … The trainee undertakes to participate
in the operations and to take in hand his learning. The basic course, particularly,
asks fairly of energy and will to make it a success. It is the minimum necessities
to master the art of sailing.

You supply food for yourself and the crew, you should calculate the (small)
expenses of diesel, pump-outs , the ice and the cleaning up expenses back
to port (35$); this last amount will be refunded if you chose to do it yourself
… You receive a technical exercise book in the registration. Trainees'
maximum : usually 4 persons; there is a possibility of increasing to 6 maximum
in the case of the same group or family … It is especially people who
want to learn, we do not usually do chartering !...
The practice is made on lake Champlain aboard an O' Day 37 '
